The hotel industry has changed drastically since the events of 9-11, especially in New York City. Tourism is down and competition is stiff. The Hudson Hotel, was initially designed with very small rooms, and in typical Schrager form, they capitalized on a fashionable and unique design that attracted many travelers. In an effort to offer larger and a broader variety of amenities the hotel is developing three floors into larger suites, combining smaller suites in various configurations.
Each lager suite will now have an office, added closet space, larger sinks etc., and a lounging area with new furniture and a general upgrade of the architectural interior elements. Numerous configurations were studied prior to selecting the final most efficient configuration. Each type of suite was then further developed to incorporated architectural, mechanical, and electrical changes, as well as furniture plans and specifications.
